Introduction
************

13375p33k, or "leetspeek," is an AppleScript-based Xtra for Adium X. Its purpose
is primarily for entertainment, though a general utility in specific situations
is not outside the realm of possibility. 13375p33k works by translating various
words and individual letters into "leetspeak," the language of script kiddies,
AOL lamers, and wannabe hackers everywhere. More information on "leetspeak" can

13375p33k translates the following words exactly as shown:

Installation and Usage
**********************

To install, just double-click the 13375p33k.adiumscript file. Adium will launch
and display a dialog box informing you that 13375p33k was installed
successfully. Alternatively, you may manually place the file into

~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Scripts/

To use 13375p33k in a conversation, just type /leet and then enclose the text
you want to "leetify" in curly braces, like so:

/leet {I'm such a super-leet hacker. Yeah! Me owns you!}

which turns into:

!'m 5uch 4 ü83r-1337 h4x0r. w007! M3 pwNz0rz j00!

in the chat window of Adium.


System Requirements
*******************

Tested functional with Adium X 0.63 and higher (including 0.7 beta versions). I
haven't tried this on pre-10.3 versions of OS X, but I don't see any reason why
it wouldn't work, since the functionality is dependent on Adium, not the OS.


Known Bugs
**********

As an Adium plug-in, 13375p33k will stop "leetifying" after the first comma in
any string. I've been told this is due to how Adium interfaces with scripts, and
I'm not sure there's any way around the problem. As a standalone script, it
digests commas (and everything else I've thrown at it) just fine.


Version History
***************

1.2, 02 October 2004: Wrote read-me and added translation for "g." Fixed a few
minor bugs where letters were getting further substituted after specific words
were replaced with their "leet" equivalents. (See script comments section for
more on this.) Unless I figure out anything to deal with the remaining known bug
(see above), this will probably be the last update for a while.

1.1, 01 October 2004: Added several specific word translations and thoroughly
commented the AppleScript code.

1.0, 30 September 2004: initial release of 13375p33k after an hour or two of
frantic re-learning of AppleScript for the first time in eight years.
